And spent a good portion of the day searching for the location of where the water to the house exits under the concrete of the well-house. We embarked on this search because we will need a one inch water line coming to the house once the addition is complete, and we could only find a 3/4 inch line coming in...
It seemed like we were all set; it was going to be easy to tie in to the PVC with new lines to the addition. But then the plumber came this morning, did a some calculations and a pressure test, and determined that simply the number of fixtures in the finished dwelling will require us to have a one-inch pipe going coming from the well-house to the new house. We knew that there is a one-inch pipe leaving the well-house bringing the water over here, so we just had to find where it adapts down to the 3/4 inch pipe that we have found.
And thus began the wild goose chase.
And thus began the wild goose chase.
We were all coming to our wits end. The line had to be coming out of this building somewhere, but we had no paperwork from the original builder, so it really could be anywhere. Are we going to dig around the entire thing? We really needed to talk with the guy who built this place. We knew the names of the people in the family, as they are all etched in the doorjamb where ages and heights of kids were recorded, as well as on the old permits from the County. We were told they had moved to California. So, it was off to Google for me. From what I could find, they had gone to California, but appeared to be back in Oregon now. I found the phone number I thought must be right, called, and left a message.
Meanwhile, one last effort was made to dig deeper at the PVC by the back door...

The day ended with two successes; getting the permit in hand and finally finding the water line.
