Major Stump Removal and Some Land Leveling

9/4/2013

For us, this project includes the addition to the house, but also these other projects on the land that we have been wanting to do forever, as well a couple that came to mind when we saw what this heavy equipment can do in a matter of moments.
We are waiting for our building permit from the County, which is expected by Friday the 6th of September...  We don't want to actually construct anything until we have that permit IN hand.

We've never been able to get a forty foot vehicle around this curve to our back pasture thanks to the trees that were growing right here

They have BIG roots and grew VERY close together

One of those big roots. This is tough on a chainsaw!

And tough on an excavator bucket! This tooth broke off, but Steve continued on. It will get welded later

This area to the West of the garden was cleared of trees and huge blackberry thickets in the Spring of 2012. It has been maintenance resistant since then, due to very uneven ground. BUT, Pat has a bulldozer here...

The first lumber delivery; the lumber for building the forms for the concrete stem wall. Delivered by... Hammer Lumber!
Picture
At least nobody has to unload it!

Jay, pounding some big stakes from which to run the string lines to mark where the concrete forms should be built
